I confess there's such a lot of Gideon-mania out there that I'm always relieved to find other people the book didn't work for. I was reading in hard copy and stopped about a quarter of the way in because I was bored and didn't care what happened to any of the characters. Whatever it is in the books that other people are getting off on doesn't do anything for me.
