PO Woes

When banks used to have separate queues I always managed to pick the slowest one. Thankfully all our local banks and our local post office have the 'one queue' system, but even that didn't save me today. I took a massively heavy bundle of post (three big bags of Tanglefoot's tour flyers) to Denby Dale PO, helped by my good friends [profile] t_op  and M. There were twenty three packages varying in weight from 500 grams to 5 kilos and I knew it would take a long time at the counter... I wasn'tm however, expecting the damn label printing machine to break down after nine packages. We then stood for half an hour while A - the PO lady - pushed buttons one by one while on the phone to the tech helpline. Short answer: they were not very helpful at all.

Eventually, since M and [profile] t_op  had to hit the road for Mid-Wales, I had to tell A that I was terribly sorry, but I just couldn't wait to see if the machine got fixed. I ended up leaving my packages (well, I couldn't carry them home again) and making another trip later in the afternoon to pay for them. Thankfully A had weighed and labelled them all and had the bill ready for me whan I arrived at 5.15, sliding in just before closing time.
