After the very disappointing turn of events with Diezel Dog we decided that we should climb straight back on the horse (or dog). After all, we've had 4 German Shepherds and there were no problems with the first three. And we think Diezel's problems stemmed from physical causes - petit mal type fits which left him disoriented and fearful. It's more common that you would expect in dogs, but since it's not a foaming fit you don't always notice them until the dog starts to act out of character, usually defensive/aggressive. That fits exactly.
So here's dog number five.. Eska -- just 4 weeks old in that pic (with BB) and looking more like a mole than a German Shepherd. She arrives on 28th November, three days after G and family move in. She's an all-black, long-coated GSD bitch. The breeder comes highly recomended by people in the Huddersfield GSD training class. We've met Eska's full sister, Jazz, now just 18 moths old - and a delight.
We went to pick a pup last Saturday and the whole house is full of happy, sociable dogs (without any doggy stink - it's spotless). The pups have been reared inside and well-handled.

We met both mum and dad. Mum, Shayla, is white/champagne, but the litter is all black like Dad..
Dad is called Yogi - because he looks like a bear. He's gorgeous and so calm and friendly.
Anyhow we had three little black bitches to pick from and went for the one with the sweetest nature. The breeder said she'd had he eye on that one, knowing we wanted a puppy to bring up in a house with children (supervised, of course) and guessed we'd pick her.
We're really looking forward to the pup, even though it's going to be house-traing thrugh the winter. Brrrr!
