Movie of the Week: Skyfall
Nov. 15th, 2012 08:19 pmIt's been a thin month for movies, so for various reasons including holidays and hospital appointements H and I have missed our regular Wednesday outing to the cinema. That was all put right this week with our trip to see the new Bond movie, Skyfall.
No plot spoilers if you haven't seen it, but this was a back-to-basics Bond with no trick gadgets (except one from many movies ago which older viewers and Bond afficionados will remember with fondness). There's less glitz, fewer bond girls and more humanity and heart to this movie. We've got a damaged Bond and a challenged M, both politically and personally.
Though Daniel Craig is excellent, for many reasons this is Judi Dench's movie and I hope she gets an oscar for her beautifully understated portrait of M.
Go and see it.
