My son in law just ran the Edinburgh Marathon in 3 hours 9 mins. Whoo-hoo! Congrats Ian Kenton!
He's been running for about 4 years but this was his first competitive marathon after training for 6 months. We thought he might not manage it since he's been fighing off the remains of a chest cold all week, but he did and ran it in a fantastic time!

Congratulations to your son-in-law. Our daughter was going to compete, but had to back out at short notice due to pressure of work.

Congratulations!

I think it must be a huge satisfaction to run that distance just once. Of course in order to be in training you need to run many times that distance. Ah well, I think it's one of those things I shall be happy to congratulate other people on! :)

Ian was worried that the chest cold would stop him from competing. It's difficult to run 26 miles when you're wheezing, and on Saturday he was bordeline, but obviously a bite better by Sunday.

He's run the distance in training but this was his first time in a competition. Pretty good time, too.
