Way Too Much To do

Monday:
Done a massive amount of packing stuff up and arranging carriers to collect
Cooked a liver and bacon casserole (for dinner and for freezer)
Baked bread (in the machine)
Designed three separate adverts and sent them off to magazines

I've still got way too much to do which is probably why I'm wasting time with things like this:

I've probably visited more states than many Americans, but I've still got quite a few to go.

You must come visit California again.

I'd love to. We spent about ten days in the Bay Area, playing gigs all around San Jose, Cupertino etc, down as far as Santa Cruz. We were based in Berkely with a lady called Sally Greenberg who puts on concerts for a lot of Brits on tour. Never got as far south a LA though. Did manage to drive south down the coast road via the San Gregorio general store to see some pretty impressive redwoods (but unfortunately I can't remember where) and back via one of those little mission towns right on the San Andreas fault. Must look up my photos. The name escapes me right now and will come back the second I press 'post comment'.

I live in the Bay Area, and I think it's beautiful here. I'd love to hear you play a gig.

You've missed us by ore than 2 years. We did our final farewell concert in November '05 after 20 years of touring. Final until... the reunion tour... maybe. At least, none of us has ruled out a reunion tour completely, but we aren't rushing to plan one yet. Maybe 2010.

It's hip to do at least two or three final farewell tours, you know.

Yes, but first you have to have been gone long enough for people to miss you, but not too long so that they've forgotten who the hell you are.

More than I've visited, if I don't count ones I passed through in a car or bus.

I only counted the ones I've at least spent an overnight stay in. Indiana barely qualifies as that was literally a couple of nights in motels on the way to or from places. And I've only been to Ohio a couple of times for gigs. I've spent most of my time in the States in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Maine and Washington State. And in Canada, Ontario wins by miles, followed by multiple visits to Nova Scotia, Alberta, British Columbia and (only a couple of times) to Manitoba (specifically Winnipeg).

By the time we 'retired' as Artisan we'd done 31 North American tours, (usually both Canada and the US on the same tour) but mostly we went back to the same places. There's not much of a market for English vocal harmony in (say) Texas and Wyoming. (Mind you, who'd have thought there'd be a good gig in Fort Smith, Arkansas? But there is!)

My claim to fame is playing Broadway, but anyone who knows NYC will tell you it's a long street.
