Will somebody switch my brain back on to real-time, please? I missed an important meeting yesterday because I forgot. I didn't forget the meeting was on Tuesday. I forgot that yesterday was Tuesday.

Same result.

Working from home is great but you lose track of which day it which and what time it is. The number of times I've had to stop myself reaching for the phone at three in the morning...

I got next week confused with the following week.

Sigh.

I do this all the time. I have had to resort to Radio 4 online listings sometimes to work out when I am.

Maybe it's something about being a musician. We get used to looking at the calendar in broad sweeps. 'This month I'm on tour and next month I'm at home...' (And of course we don't miss dates on tour because that's why we're on tour...)

The trouble is, of course, that I'm not a musician now, but my brain doesn't know it yet. It just thinks this is a big break between tours.

The other folk on the village committee think I'm nuts because they live their lives by calendars and work Monday to Friday for wages, so of course they're not going to forget what day it is. I didn't used to forget what day it was when someone else was paying me to be there on time five days a week.
