I have no idea. Were they trying to do a reverse Buffy (whose mentor was English)? But if so, why not cast an American actor?
I don't know whether I'll try to watch it. That Saturday night slot is awkward because I'm usually cooking or eating dinner and G wouldn't want to watch it anyway. Dr Who and Merlin could be watched via the iPlayer, but I haven't had much success with the ITV version. I tried to watch the last Sharpe thing and it kept buffering so I was left with a series of still photos and a sound track. I was not a happy bunny!
