Where did the time go?

I've just realised I missed my one year anniversary of getting my first LJ account. (15th December) though I didn't really get underway with proper posting until 7th January.  I always wondered how and why people blogged and I only dipped a toe in the water cautiously on LJ in order to be able to keep up with friends who are here... and within a couple of weeks there I was... blogging.

My basic LJ word-count for 2008 is around 56,000 - not counting responses to other people's posts and counter-responses to my own. Since I'm not known for being concise in my replies I reckon I'm close to around 100k altogether. That's a novel.

The fact is though that if I hadn't been on LJ I wouldn't have written an extra novel. I've written one of those as well this year! Ha!

I do hope LJ isn't under threat as one or two folks seem to think. I'm just getting into my stride.

That is a lot of words. I have no idea what my own count is, but I suspect it's rather lower.

I too hope that LJ will continue for many years yet. There's nothing else quite like it. The only other online place I spend any time these days is Flickr, but that serves a totally different purpose.

That's a lot of words, and they were good ones, too!
