Now I've seen everything

My thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ferlonda  for bringing this bit of crass stupidity to my attention. Are people actually mad enough to sign up for this? If so I have a very nice bridge for sale... buyer collects.

Is it really much different from medieval people building a chantry? (which I also saw as pointless)

I dunno, the only chantry I know of is in Wakefield, on the bridge, where presumably people popped in to give thanks for a safe journey, or request a safe journey in their prayers. They still had to visit the place themselves even though there may be a resident praying person.

Some chantrys were built solely to say prayers for a dead person.

Amazing, isn't it? You'd think people would figure out that if you're praying to god/goddess/creator/source/Umtah the Wormgod you'd better do it in person or, what do you get? A computerized god/etc. in return. And we all know how well computers work...

Sheesh. Like there isn't enough time in the day to say, "Please, god/etc." or "Thank you, god/etc."

Indeed. If you're gping to believe, you'd better make time. Persopnally I don't have that problem, but I figure if people want to do the god thing it should require at least some effort on their part.

Or pick a deity who doesn't care if you pray or not! Then at least you're not risking anything. :)

'We apologize but other religions are not currently supported'

Would be funny if it wasn't serious, but it is, isn't it?

I'm afraind it must be serious. They charge money for it.
