Puppy birthday
Sep. 20th, 2009 12:25 amGot a call about 6.00 p.m. from the breeder. Maddie had just dropped her first puppy, a boy, and the birthing was in progress. Yay! That means if all goes well we should be en-puppied on or around 14th November. In the meantime we've started to look at the house with fresh eyes, trying to see where puppy-proofing measures need to be taken. Floorstanding things need raising; electrical wires need tucking out of the way of sharp teeth; keeping things in baskets on the floor is probably a no-no, (for a while, at least). Luckily we still have childproof catches on low kitchen cupboards. The garden is already a puppy-proof version of Colditz without the machine gunners on the guard towers, but as the boy grows up we may need to add some height to the back wall or put a stock-wire fence inside it.
