My aim in 2009 was to read a lot more than the piffling 30 books that I managed in 2008 and I did, indeed, double my score - not only did I read 61 books, but I wrote them up in my booklog. Unfortunately I actually bought twice as many books as I managed to read, so I am staring at 60 unread books making me feel guilty and calling out to me.

I wish I could read more, but writing and real life squash out my reading time, so here are the books I actually read and logged on LJ this year - in order of reading.

Happy New Year!

That's quite an impressive list. It takes me weeks to plod through a novel these days because it gets squeezed in amongst reading for the courses I'm studying and writing fiction and essays.

That's my problem, too. I'm not a fast reader and my reading time, such as it is, squeezes my writing time, so it's one or the other. However, bearing in mind that reading fuels writing - and also prevents you from embarrassingly reinventing the (plot) wheel - I am determined to always have a book on the go and to sample new writers and as-yet-unread classic writers in the genre, as well as indulging in some comfort reading from favourite writers.
