Here's the puppy aged five and a half months. I look at him and think he's nearly full grown and then I look at his oversize ears and feet and think... he's still got some growing to do...

He's a lovely boy - and he's going to be a big lad.

Nope, those ears still don't fit! :)

I suppose he might not get much taller but looking at the second picture, he's got to get quite a bit longer to be in proportion for an adult German Shepherd.

He is still ever so handsome though. :)

Huge paws... I think he's still growing, too. And he's lovely.

Yes, you're right - plenty of room for growth there yet. :) Lovely pictures, lovely dog.

Oh, yes, he's got LOTS of growing yet to do! What a lovely face he has, very serious and full of thought.

The thought is usually, 'What can I bite next?'

Or chew, pull, roll on or eat, right? Sounds perfect for his age and breed! I hope your furniture survives the teething process- or is he done with that already?

He's still teething, but the worst of it is over, I think. He's pretty good at chewing (mostly) the things he's supposed to chew... except when he isn't. All those needle-like baby teeth seem to have been replaced by fands - which are actually much easier on the flesh because they're not as sharp. Of course, his jaw is stronger which means you get crush injuries when he gets excited and forgets to be gentle. My mum had a big bruise on her leg from his thrashing tail... and that was because he was pleased to see her.

He's a bully, though. Whe he wants to play he tries to bully you for attention by mouthing at your arms (or ankles) and we're having to be very consistent about turning away and not letting him have his own way.

Fangs not fands - of course.

Yep, that's the way to deal with a bully.

We knew a dog growing up who's tail was literally like a whip. Jiggers was the sweetest creature and when he was happy his tail would wag like crazy and leave stripes on our legs.

Yes. You can hardly tell them off for being happy, can you?

No, you sure can't. Jigger was so sweet and friendly- and so ugly and stinky and his tail was bone hard with practically no hair on it... Poor old dog. I think we tried to be good to him because he did love everyone so much.
