I finally got round to joining SFWA. I've been intending to do it since I qualified in 2004. Better late than never.

I joined in 2003. I think I unjoined a couple years later (as in, not paying any more membership fees, etc.).

I figured I might not stay in permanently, but I should at least join and see what it was all about.

I'm still thinking about it. What was it persuaded you?

I just thought that since it was neither incest nor morris dancing I owed it to myself to try it once and see what advantage there might be. I suspect it might be very US-centric, but since I'm currently negotiating with a US agent, that might be no bad thing for me.

Welcome to the funny farm . . .

(Don't know if that translates into British.)

It translates.
:-)
There was the hit record by Screaming Lord Such in the 1960s which had the line... 'to the funny farm, where life is beautiful all day long, and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats, and they're coming to take me away...'

(And what does it say for my brain that I can remember it?)

Well, whatever it says for your brain, I remember that song too . . .
