I'm glad you liked the story. I thought it was remarkable on a number of levels, not least of all the scientist going out into the water to pet and thank the dolphin. Scientists try to be detached but sometimes things can get to them- and honestly I think it makes a person a better scientist to know that there are things no one can completely understand, like what motivates one species to help another when there are no obvious rewards involved.
