Demons in the machine

Aaargh. We've been without internet all day. Thank you Demon. Their recorded help line merely said (at 2.00) that they'd resolved the problem with outgoing mail and were working on the problem with incoming - but the whole server was absent without leave. The whole internetz was dead. Grrr!

Fortunately was out most of the day, so had no problem. But the same happened to me the other day. I just left it for the day and by the time I came back after meeting a friend ofr a drink, it was up and ruunning - mind you that was the router showing a red light on 'internet'. Usually I give these things a day to resolve themselves before I bother phoning anyone. :)

Fortunately I was out all day, so didn't notice. Having said that, I didn't come home to find a distressed husband who had been deprived of Internet, so I assume Demon was OK here.

Of course he could have been out at the college during the crucial period, or it could just have affected email and not the web and he uses Gmail.
