Good news / bad news

I saw crocuses (white and purple) growing on the grass verge down the road into Huddersfield thids afternoon (the ones up here are still in bud, but on their way). They made me smile. Spring is coming!

The bad news... the reason for the trip into Huddersfield was to take BB to A&E. He managed to trap the end of his index finger in the car door this morning. Self-inflicted, he admits, but... Big Ouchie. It's pretty well mushed up his finger-end and nail and the doc had to remove a flap of his finger tip. That's gotta hurt.

Ow! That must be painful. Fingers have so many nerve endings that any injury feels worse.

Thanks. i've lost track of the number of times he's messed his hands up one way or another. Good job he's not playing the cello regularly any more. He certainly wouldn't be with this injury.

He's a walking disater area when he's working outside on the barn: Gash down to the knuckle a couple of years ago (on a joist hanger - required stitches); hammered finger-end; various gashes; another trapped finger (car door again but this time slammed by the garage mechanic, so not strictly speaking self-inflicted). I have a well stocked first aid box and a fairly strong stomach for blood.

The crocuses sound good. Ina and I are spending three days in a cottage in Skipton with Little Dog Draco early next week - mainly to see a friend in Keighley, but Monday is going to be free so, if the weather is good, we may get some walking done.

I love Skipton Castle. There are many grander, but not so many you feel you could just move into. The yew tree in the Conduit court is breathtaking.

Sunday we are stopping at Stamford to see this litter of puppies and select one ... but I would love to see you so perhaps we can stop again and stretch Draco's legs and have some coffee.

Or maybe have a few minutes on Monday, when we don't (now) have to be anywhere special.

Sunday mid to late morning would work, but Sunday afternoon we're going to my niece's boy's 2nd birthday party. Ouch! I did that as a kid, and had the scar for decades. I hope he heals quickly.
