Another 8 stories sent out yesterday. That's 28 stories currently out - i.e. every story I've got available to submit is out there, looking for a home. Some of them are quite old, some relatively recent. So now I should be able to turn stories round and send them out again one at a time if and when they bounce back into my inbox. That's the theory, anyway.

Yeah, right.

Wow - that's quite an achievement!

Must get some more of mine out there when I get back. 2 out right now, another one can go once I pluck up the courage, and another that isn't far off being finished.

Plus the novel of course...

I've given up on the idea of figuring out which story is right for which magazine. Basically I just can't second-guess any editor, so if the stories are in the correct category and are the right length, I'm sending them out more-or-less at random to any market that pays pro or semipro rates. I've even sent one to Analog, though it's not hard SF and will probably come whistling back, but it is a personal first for me, so I'm happy.

I'm working on the first draft of another children's (middle grade) book, so not much time for short story writing at the moment. Therefore I'm planning to make the ones I have got work harder.
:-)

Now I have ten pre-sold stories, eight of which are theoretically available for reprint markets. I should send them out, too. That's a job for today.

Ah - reprints. Yes, I'll have to start looking at those. Escape Pod seems a good possibility.

There's also translation markets, but they may be harder to get information about...

Fantastic!I haven't forgotten I have a story to read. I'm bogged down with dissertation stuff right now but I'm looking forward to reading your stuff soon as a reward!

I'm taking Debs as my inspiration. She came to Milford a couple of years ago and left us all with our jaws hanging slack. She writes every day (while her kids are at school) and at any given time has about 50 stories out there.
