Zulu Tradition got a call and hurriedly scrambled to get down to London in the snow a couple of weeks ago to record a lead vocal for a TV advert. Here's Bongi Gwala's lead for the Rice Krispies ad showing on TV for the next six weeks.
Thank you. They did the Friday night entertainment spot at Eastercon this year and preceded that with a panel on Zulu culture and magic. I don't often get my two worlds to meet in the middle. It was great!
Yes, despite all his bluster beforehand the person doing the shit-stirring was not even at Eastercon. If it has been passed on to me correctly (and I'm not on Twitter so I didn't see it first hand) he seemed to object to the Zulus playing Eastercon because he accused E/con of objectifying black people. His logic seemed to be that since E/con is predominently white that it was not sincere in extending an invitation to the Zulus. So in support of being more inclusive he seemed to be saying that the Zulus should not play E/con. That would have been very sad, not least because the Zulus were delighted to get the gig.
Well, I can sell you a CD at £13.50 inc postage. All proceeds to them. Email me if you want paypal details, but there is also more on Youtube. Take a look at http://www.jacey-bedford.com/zulu.htm for links to video and some links to audio.
