[personal profile] heleninwales reminded me about some of the horses i used to ride when I was a kid. This was my first riding lesson  - age 7 -on a pony called Prince. There are a few more old horse photos in my gallery. Feel free to take a look

I think everyone who rides must have known a pony called Prince at some point. He looks really kind and patient. Was he?

Well I did take my first half dozen or so lessons on him amd managed not to mess up too badly, so he probably was reasonable for a pony. Little ponies always seem more nippy than bigger ones and horses, don't they? But I don't recall Prince having any unpredictable tendencies... and I did get off the lead rein on the second week.

I knew another Prince later, a fabulous, competition-class Fell pony. Only 12.3 but a neck made of iron girders, especially when he didn't want to be cooperative. he took a lot more riding.
