I'm actually enjoyaing sitting at home...

In previous years, touring with Artisan, today would have been the first day of an intensive Christmas show run. We always started on the first full weekend after Number One Daughter's birthday, ensuring we were always at home for her, and that we never let the shows get too early. (Though in truth November is a bit early and we always breathed easier once we hit December.)

I just put a Christmas Show page up on the Artisan web site, but here's a pic from the last show.

The Christmas show run was bloody hard work. We once did 28 shows in 27 days - including 2 matinees and one night off. At the beginning of the run I always wondered how I'd get through it and at the end of the run I was always sorry it was over.
More pics here .
We started out by including some Christmas carols in with our normal show but it evolved and evolved until I was writing terrible punny pantomimes to go with the song sets. This one just goes to prove I'll do anything (almost) if I'm being paid.

I
I'll even impersonate aeroplanes, (or is that a very bad Maria impersonation from Sound of  Music?)

But they seem to enjoy it and that's what counts. (The empty seat belongs to the photographer.)

But don't you look fabulous? That is a glorious dress and it suits you.

That's the most expensive dress I've ever bought. It was from a shop in Victoria, Vancouver Island, called 'Carnaby Street' (It's not there now, alas. The shop - not Vancouver Island.) They specialised in individual hand made dresses based on ethnic designs and had a co-op in Guatamala weaving cloth for them.

In 1996 or 97 it was $450 Canadian. But I wore it for show agter show and at the end of each show I just turned it inside out, rolled it into a sausage and shoved it into a carrier bag ready for tomorrow.

It's still in the wardrobe and just as good as ever if I could only find the right place to wear it. It's _so_ comfortable! And forgiving. One year I tore a ligament in my knee and ended up with so much strapping on my leg it looked like I was swathed in that old fashioned water-tank lagging. The dress hid it perfectly ad even looked pretty good with a walking stick accessory.

I had other stuff from that same shop, too. It was brilliant! But nothing as good as 'the big black dress'.

Could you perhaps wear it at Eastercon? It's so lovely that it needs an outing!
