[Error: unknown template qotd]Firefly - Joss Whedon's cowboys-in-space series that dies befre it was born leaving 14 brilliant episodes and the movie 'Serenity'.

It's not even Fillion, though he has got a lovely talent for underplayed comedy, it's the whole ensemble cast and - especially - the smart scripts.

Mine is 'Wolf Lake', a very obscure US show with the wonderful Graham Greene, which lasted nine episodes and was shown in the dead slot by ITV. It was werewolves and Native American mysticism and had great potential -- but was killed by some dire scripts in early episodes. The marquis wants 'Star Cops'.

And though Firefly remains top of my list I forgot to mention Farscape which I also loved. I wasn't even considering series that actually ran their term and ended properly, like Buffy - which I do miss - and Star Trek TNG which had potential that was never really developed. But of series that ended before their time. I also miss Dark Angel, Carnivale, Blake's 7, and the Robin of Sherwoods with Michael Praed as Robin (pre Jason Connery who was never as good).
