Another good day today, work-wise (both writing and music-agency). I've given myself permission to take the evening off to watch Torchwood. Note to [personal profile] maeve_the_red, Doctor Frog Boy has seen the error of his ways this season, apparently. He's almost human and appears to have stopped jumping on anything female with a pulse.

I was enjoying the way Dr. Frog Boy (excellent name for him) seemed to be self-destructing, in the same way watching Lando in B5 was interesting. I did like his (semi-)nude scenes (Frog Boy, not Lando), though.

The self-destruct bit was getting predictable though. Suddenly making him relatively sympathetic is a twist I didn't expect. He's done four episodes without nearly causing the end of the world. (About time they showed him being competent.)

I'd like to bet they got no end of adverse audience reaction to things like the date-rape thing early in the first season.(Owen using alien device instead of drugs to make girls mad for him.)

I'm glad they're making him more sympathetic. I'm appalled at how all of them use alien devices for their own ends (Gwen and the amnesia drugs, Owen like you said, Tosh and the mind reading thing, etc.). These people are supposed to save us?

Well... flawed heroes and all that...

So he has. I wondered why this season (which I admit I have been watching in a bit of a stupor) wasn't pissing me off so much. He's still an ugly little spud, but at least he's not a morally repugnant ugly little spud. I did get annoyed when Tosh started to pine for him this week though - over her WWI time-traveller already, huh?

Tosh really doesn't get out much, does she? I liked the Tommy-Time-Traveller. Nice bit of acting and a decent script. Helen Rayner seems to have written some good episodes. She goes for the slightly more character-driven stuff, which is always more interesting.
